It’s Sip & Savor Time, March 28, 10 a.m.–4 p.m

Spring has come to Hampshire County. You should, too!

Heads up! Spring is creeping into Hampshire County. Peepers are peeping and green things are poking up. This is a great time to get outside and stretch your legs in our patch of wild and wonderful.

On March 28, we’re hosting Sip & Savor Hampshire. This event brings together some of the county’s favorite spots for a day of tasting, exploring, and good old-fashioned poking around. Wander through cozy cafes, small farms, garden paths, and Main Street shops. Each one offers something unique to sip, sample, or enjoy.

The best part? There’s no hurry. Take your time. Hang out with us for the weekend. Hampshire County is less than two hours from Fairfax, Virginia, Frederick, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., but it feels a world away.

You might start your Sip & Savor afternoon at Anderson’s Corner in downtown Romney. This boutique carries fine jewelry and unique pieces by West Virginia artists. Guests can sample curated wines alongside gourmet balsamic vinegars with specialty bites to match. While you browse, keep an eye out for the shop’s Vintage and Modern Diamond Sale—and take home a free spring gift with your purchase.

And if you’re thinking about flowers, visit Valley View Greenhouse in Augusta. Family-owned and -operated for more than 40 years, this longtime favorite is bursting with vibrant plants and seasonal blooms. During Sip & Savor, visitors can take part in Succulent Saturday (that’s fun to say, isn’t it?) and create a custom planter to bring home. It’s a hands-on way to celebrate the new season and add a little Hampshire County green to your own space.

Back in Romney, Romney Brew Station is ready to keep the flavors coming. During Sip & Savor, it offers a coffee flight paired with a waffle flight. This may be the best flight ever!

The event runs 10 a.m.– 4 p.m., but a day of poking around tastes even better when you don’t have to rush home, so consider these wonderful Hampshire County stays.

Southern Charm Getaway in Romney makes it easy to settle in and explore. This comfortable, family-friendly home lies within walking distance of restaurants, boutiques, historic sites, and even Civil War trenches. Spend the day strolling downtown, ride the Potomac Eagle Scenic Train—where you really will see eagles—or fish along the South Branch of the Potomac River.

For something quieter, Love’s Creekside Cottage in Romney offers a peaceful retreat on more than eight wooded acres. The gentle sound of the creek sets the tone for slow mornings and relaxed afternoons. Gather around the firepit in the evening, enjoy time with family and friends, and let the calm of the countryside settle in. Delightful.

If you need a dose of river song, Arnold’s Oasis at Riverdale Farms delivers a melodic stay along the Cacapon River—one of West Virginia’s cleanest waterways. This custom high-end glamping cabin blends modern comfort with historic surroundings on land once home to Captain David Pugh, the last signer of West Virginia’s statehood papers. Unwind, listen to the river, and take in some local history.

Sometimes, simple and familiar is exactly what the doctor ordered. If that’s the case, check out Koolwink Motel. For decades, this family-owned spot has been vibing with retro charm. Nearby, antique shops, historic sites, and scenic drives are perfect for poking around. It’s easy, it’s friendly, and it’s hip.

The Lazy Bear Retreat is your go-to den for warming your paws by the fire. Kayaks and life vests are on-site, so you can paddle the Cacapon River or just float on by. Watch for bald eagles before retreating to the coziness of this quiet and rustic cabin.

And for those who love a view—because who doesn’t?—Treetop Haven in Romney offers privacy high among the trees. Set on nearly six wooded mountainside acres, this spacious cabin offers sweeping windows, a wraparound deck, and plenty of room to gather.

So come enjoy spring with us. Sip, savor, and maybe even stay a while in Hampshire County.
